But who are you really?

Cleopatra's venerable Scribe or the Abbé de l'Epée with his ambition for education for all? Or perhaps a specialist in the Arabic language, its history and culture, or a worthy descendant of Ada Lovelace, the first major player in the creation of computer language?

Tell me, what do you do best? What do you excel at? Whether in your professional or private life, what are you most happy with, or even most proud of? Of course, you remain modest... but there's got to be something that suits you, isn't there?

  • An art form that you have practised since you were a child: music, painting, photography, sewing?
  • Physical activity that boosts your vitality: cycling, running, swimming, dancing, hiking?
  • All languages that you speak and that amazes those around you when it comes to choosing the menu on holiday!
  • Your public speaking skills always the right word, in the right tone, to captivate your audience for a long time!
  • Your hobbies, your job that you carry out with enthusiasm, motivation, pugnacity and determination?

Your magic wand

Do you think you can acquire your master's degree, or the professional goals you've set yourself, with a single snap of the finger?

I don't doubt that you're gifted, but be sincere: don't your performances and even your pleasure come from your "heart at work", from your ability to surpass yourself, to aim higher, to prefer the finest achievements and from your ability to challenge yourself too?

A other Would it be capable of taking your place, without preparation, without training, without "again" and "again"? And what about creating the website for your company or business? Are you so naive as to imagine that, with the wave of a magic wand, you can challenge the entire web: with the right positioning, standards-compliant web development and an optimised user path?

And what about safety? Oh yes, it's in the bag, because the web is certainly safe, especially when it comes to implementing an online shop and its payment solutions... Think about it, and sincerely!

The key to the mystery

Perhaps the solution is quite simple: to achieve a professional result that meets your needs and expectations, you simply need to know how to surround yourself with the right people!

False savings?

I don't want to harp on about the benefits of working with professionals - you already know that! I don't want to drown in scaremongering either, that's not my philosophy.

However, I'd just like to draw your attention to a few points that you should bear in mind when implementing any web project:

  • A poorly positioned website simply won't meet its target audience, so the customers you want to reach won't find you.
  • A poorly defined website with no prospects for development will sooner or later lead you to rethink the whole of your work. I'm not talking here about the regular updates inherent in the life of your site. Instead, I'd like to draw your attention to the fact that your site can evolve, and that you can add features that will make your site or online shop even more attractive.
  • An inefficient user journey will drastically reduce the conversion rate: fewer requests for quotes, fewer contacts and even fewer online sales.
  • Old technology or technology that has not been regularly updated means non-compliance, loss of speed and display performance, with damaging consequences in terms of Google referencing.
  • Non-accessible hosting not only makes your site inaccessible, but also your emails. Can you imagine just one day without access to your mailboxes? And what are the consequences for order forms that are irretrievably lost?

The same applies to a lack of IT security and all the long-term consequences that can ensue.

And what is your own peace of mind worth? How much do you really value it?

As promised, I've spared you the verse about the benefits of being well surrounded... After reading these few lines, you're well informed. I invite you to put it to good use!

If you really want to take an active part in the creation and development of your site, and you should, I invite you to repeat my previous little exercises with their famous lists!

This time there will be 4 columns to draw: 1 large and 3 small. The large column will be used to list all the steps involved in creating a website, as follows no exhaustive :

  • defining its positioning
  • the tree structure and organisation of information
  • graphic design and optimisation of the user experience
  • web development and adaptation for computers, tablets and smartphones
  • functionalities specific to your business
  • hosting and technical management
  • IT security
  • the definition of content pages and the distribution of specific information per page, for optimum presentation
  • writing page content
  • writing content for your products and/or services with catchy slogans
  • the selection and/or creation of visuals sales graphics and/or photos and photo montages
  • optimisation for natural referencing: keywords and their consistent use
  • the news
  • the communication plan and its definition
  • implementing and monitoring the promotion plan
  • monitoring visitor statistics to optimise and regularly update your site

The 3 small columns will be used to specify what you are prepared to do:

  1. very enthusiastic
  2. +/- indifferent
  3. not at all enthusiastic

Next, you'll go through the same list again, specifying your current knowledge/skills. This is in no way a value judgement, just a reflection of your reality:

  1. good knowledge/skills
  2. basic knowledge/skills
  3. no knowledge or skills at all

And lastly, the amount of time you are willing to devote to the project in terms of learning and execution:

  1. many
  2. medium
  3. little

You will easily understand that the same points appearing several times in column 3 should be avoided, and in column 2 should be evaluated.

And for 1: you'll be able to measure your possibilities more accurately, so you'll have a better idea of what you can objectively put in place. Then you can start to make an inventory of your internal and external resources, and select the people you can involve in your project, with what deadlines and budget.

There you go, your impressions and perceptions replaced by facts and concrete information. Congratulations!

Ain't life grand? Roll on youth!

Make life easier for yourself and ask for our ready-to-complete lists!
